Arrival in San Francisco
Five thousand odd miles and 10hrs after leaving London Heathrow I arrive at SFO, tired but not too bad after a rather passable flight.
Top tip that if you are going to fly this route and your aircraft is a 747-400, Virgin do economy seats in the upper deck. Just five rows of them behind the Upper Class section. It’s very quiet upstairs and the cabin crew are very attentive, plus if you get a window seat you also have a very wide ‘window ledge’ which is great to have all your stuff on during the flight.
As I flew in from London, Paul flew up from San Diego where he had been working for the past three weeks. Bit weird meeting each other at the airport both laden with luggage. We then picked up a car at the airport. Very quick process and drove off towards Foster City, where we’ll be staying. Traffic was really heavy as the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) isn’t running, as there is a union strike, so everyone was in their car commuting. Some things don’t change from country to country huh?
