‘Two Many Cooks’ certainly don’t spoil the broth.
I paid a whistle stop visit to the newly opened Two Many Cooks on Lesbourne Road today and all I can say is that the shop/cafe is a welcome addition to the Reigate foodie fold.
The shop is airy, well laid out with a very friendly, warm atmosphere. The baked goods displayed on the counter looked fabulous. Savory offerings of scotch eggs, sausage rolls, sweet potato filo pies and a delicious sounding blue cheese, bacon and walnut pie all on show as well as breads, pastries, brownies and other sweet goodies. Plus a cold counter of a variety of different salads including a spicy Asian salad and a spelt & butternut squash combo.
The menu boards behind the counter were very clear and easy to read. A good choice of sandwiches were available and we had a roast beef, horseradish, rocket and coleslaw on white bloomer to take away.
All produce is either made in house by Two Many Cooks or sourced as locally as possible like the bread from Chalk Hills Bakery around the corner, the sausages from Blue Cow butchers across the road and their eggs from Cidermill Farm in Newdigate. Also a very welcome addition are the jars of preserves, chutneys and jams on sale that are made in house and am told I should try Two Many Cooks Chutneys and Paul’s Nearly Famous Hand Cut Seville Marmalade. A refreshing change not to see the same old brands that you spot on the shelves in nearly every deli.
Not having enough time to stop and have a coffee with our sandwich and scotch egg, we will certainly come back to sample one or two items on their breakfast menu which is served all day. I imagine it will be a tempting place to stop on a Saturday either en route to or back from Priory Park or any other day of the week for that matter.
By the way my scotch egg was cracking…I’d recommend a meander away from the High Street to try them out.
